Australian Newspaper sells out first 3 months of ads for iPad edition

A week before the iPad is officially available in Australia, The Australian a newspaper with national circulation has already sold out all ads for the first three months of the iPad-specific edition.  The first company to step up and take a $250.000 advertising package was the Commonwealth Bank.  The bank entered an exclusive deal for its sector and ensured a presence in the newspaper’s million dollar advertisement campaign.

Other companies that will be advertising in the iPad edition of The Australian include: IBM, Emirates and Toyota.  The Australian is part of News Corporation as is The Wall Street Journal which was one of the first newspapers to come out with an iPad-specific edition.

When the iPad goes on sale next Friday, The Australian will be available as a custom application which will have an introductory price of $4.99.
