Rumored iPad 2.0 parts are probably from old prototypes

Pictures showing an iPad casing with two 30 pin connection slots, the one currently found on the device and another for docking it in a horizontal position made their way to several sites today.   These pictures led to speculation that the next iPad may actually be released with two such connectors, but they are most likely from old iPad 1.0 prototypes.

It is rumored that Apple experimented with such an arrangement for the current generation of the iPad before deciding on keeping just the port located on the “bottom” side of the unit.   This being the case, it is more likely that what we are seeing now are parts from abandoned prototypes than from the next iPad model.

You can check out a picture of one of these iPad frames on Apple Insider.
