Turn your iPad into a book

Turn your iPad into a book
In the continuous stream of accessories that are rapidly coming out for the iPad a new one has really gotten my attention.  Its a carrying case that literally turns your iPad into a book. This case called simply Book, from Long Live Books camouflages your iPad disguising it as hard cover book.  Not only is it elegant, but in some areas of the world it can be a nifty security accessory as it seems highly unlike that you will be the victim of a robbery so that the perpetrator can get away with an old book. The company that hand makes these covers offers them for the MacBook and Kindle as well, but the wait to get one might be significant as demand picks up. Long Live Books offers international shipping but their online store is still being setup as I had some problems while going through the order process. All in all this seems like a great idea.  I seem to remember having seen something similar, not too long ago as a sleeve for notebooks, specially MacBooks, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we start to see more book-like cases and sleeves coming on the market in the next couple of months. *Images: Long Live...

Looking for iPad accessories? Take your iPad to the pool!

If  you are already hunting around for what accessories you’ll be getting for your iPad, I just found a newly created website dedicated to them.  Humm?!  I guess that isn’t strictly correct.  It would be more acurate to say that the site found me, as I came to know about it from a comment on my post about some accessories already being available on Amazon. You can see some Amazon search results here.  I particularly liked the waterproof case, though it looks a decidedly odd, the idea is great.  iPads to the pool! But, getting back on track…  ipadaccessories.com seems to be fully focused on the topic and already has a list of devices, cases, etc.  Considering the time that has passed since the iPad announcement, it seems that a lot of people aren’t  wasting any time in getting their products out. It is one thing that can’t be said is that the people who make their living out of the computer industry and its surrounding cloud of accessories, cases, shields, etc are...

Amazon stands to make some money from the iPad…

Just yesterday I wrote a short post about accessories for the iPad starting to surface. Well it seems that some people are a lot faster than others. Today I ran across a case for the iPad that is already available for order on Amazon. It seems that even if the iPad does take away a significant portion of the potential Kindle users, Amazon will still get a chance to make a lot of money on sale of accessories. Come to think of it, they might just make some profit on sales of the iPad as Amazon sells Macs and iPods and it seems natural that they will sell iPads as well. The opportunities for Amazon to profit from the iPad are in fact numerous as the device will run Amazon’s Kindle for iPhone and Stanza applications which allow the user to read eBooks purchased from Amazon or other stores. While not as practical as an iPod for listening to audiobooks, the iPad will still be capable of playing them and naturally it will have access to the iTunes library from which you synchronize your content to your iPad. I for one, get my audiobooks from Audible, an Amazon company. So, I guess even if people are starting to regret buying a Kindle instead of holding out for an iPad, it seems that business is still looking good for...

iPad accessories start to show up

In the last couple of days I’ve started seeing several mentions of up coming accessories for the iPad.  Philips seems to be the company that is  further along at the moment as they have already published a page on their website with pictures of several different accessories such as cases and speakers. Check it out at their website. UPDATE: I’ve run into a very curious accessory, to say the least… Would you be interested in having a bamboo case for your iPad?  Check this...
